Inventor 101: How to use Design Assistant?


The right way how to rename files in Inventor with the help of Design Assistant.




Before you start using Design assistant it's best to close all inventor files.
1.  Select the main file of the parts that you want to rename.

2. Open Design Assistant
3. Select the file you want to rename. If it's inside the assembly or drawing just choose the top file.


4.  Select the parts that you want to rename. In this picture, those in light blue color were selected. Then RMB on "Action" column and select "Rename". Double LMB on the "Name" column of the file you want to rename.


5.  As the window pop-up, type in your desired name and after you finish click "Open".
Note: Don't worry about the word open, in this case it's serves as rename or OK.


6. After you've done the changes, click "Save".


7. Finish and close Design assistant.


End.

Inventor 101: How to use using iLogic Design Copy?

Using iLogic Design copy helps you copy various files without leaving necessary files behind.

1. Start your Inventor.
2. Go to TOOLS tab and click on "iLogic Design Copy".


 3. Select the things you want to copy. Click NEXT after you have chosen.



 4. In the next window, you will have to locate the "target folder" where to save it and options to include project file, file naming, and copy options.


5. Whenever you have set up the options just press START.

Inventor 101: Match Properties in Inventor (dimension)

Have you thought of using "match properties" of AutoCAD in Inventor? If yes, here a way to do it.

1. Select the dimension you want to copy and RMB on it.
·         Choose COPY PROPERTIES
·         Select the dimension you want to change.

Inventor 101: How to show total mass of each items?

Creating parts list with weight summary.

1. Edit Parts list.

In the red marked of this photo, it shows that the masses were all for single item only.


2.  Right Mouse Click on the category head (MASS)  and select "Format column".


3. Go to Substitution tab, tick "Enable Value Substitution and select mass. Press OK.
·         This will enable the mass property to sum all values per item against ITEM QTY.
Note:
You must include ITEM QTY in the parts list for this option be enable otherwise this wouldn't work.



4. Now you will see that masses are in total value of each item. You will not be able to override the value as long as the "Enable Value Substitution" is active.

Inventor 101: How to enable cloud mark?

1. Location of SDK:
Windows XP: <Inventor install folder>\SDK
Windows Vista: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor <version>\SDK
Windows 7: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor <version>\SDK
